Raised in the jungle, Yakahontas’s passion for writing poetry developed at age 12. While growing up in and out of foster care. The name Yakahontas stems from her gang name Lady Maniak of Black P Stones and signature two Pocahontas braids that she rocks. Rapping with her older brother Brazy Boy of Black P Stones inspired her to join her first rap group the Killa Team.
In 2018 Yak was featured on the song Really From The Village Remix by Hot Sauce with her brother Brazy Boy and Ain’t No Fun by Brazy Boy. On Dec 4th 2019 sudden tragedy changed the course of her life when her beloved brother Monzell “ Brazy Boy” Ford passed away. In remembrance of her brother she went on to do songs like Never Left with Hot Sauce, Oki Doki , RIZM (that featured a long time musical idol “Big Wy”) , and several other songs .
