50 Cent disputes the notion that JAY-Z’s impact on Hip Hop is greater than Eminem’s, calling it “bullshit” in response to comments made by former NBA player Jamal Crawford on The Big Podcast with Shaq. Crawford had stated that JAY-Z’s influence on Hip Hop outweighs Eminem’s album sales.
50 Cent expressed his disagreement with the idea that JAY-Z has had a greater impact on Hip Hop than Eminem, calling it “bullshit” in a comment on Hip Hop Wolf’s Instagram page. He pointed to Eminem’s record sales as evidence of his success and impact in the genre. Eminem is the most-certified artist in the history of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) with 227.5 million sales in his career, including three diamond albums. JAY-Z’s catalog also boasts several platinum albums, including multiple multi-platinum albums.
50 Cent has disputed the claim that Jay-Z’s impact on Hip Hop is bigger than Eminem’s by pointing to the latter’s record sales and Eminem’s and his own support for each other over the years. Jay-Z currently holds the record for the most No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 for a rapper, with 14, and is second only to The Beatles with 19. In contrast, Eminem has three diamond albums and 50 Cent has had a successful career in Hip Hop. The two have maintained a strong friendship over the years, with Eminem reportedly insisting on 50 Cent’s inclusion in the historic Super Bowl LVI halftime show, which was organized by Jay-Z as a consultant for the NFL.
Fiddy and Hov have had a well-known contentious relationship over the years. In September, Fiddy responded to comments from Young Guru who said JAY-Z had warned his Roc-A-Fella roster about Fiddy’s rising popularity in the early 2000s. Fiddy took to Instagram to salute Jay and Young Guru for the praise and wrote, “I love you n-ggas too. I just need somebody to compete with. It makes me find a way, Jay know I will always find a way.”
50 Cent recently announced plans to develop an 8 Mile TV series, with the aim of further cementing Eminem’s legacy. Though few details have been released, 50 Cent confirmed in a radio interview that Eminem is aware of the project and that it is in motion. He stated, “I’m gonna bring 8 Mile to television. We’re in motion. It’s gonna be big. I’m working. I ain’t got no duds. I’m batting 100… I think it should be there for [Eminem’s] legacy because it’s important to me that they understand it.”
